Ever wonder what the difference between a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) is?
You are not alone, this is a frequently asked question. The answer is fairly simple, there really is no difference. Each state has their own definition, some use the term DWI and others DUI, but the charge itself is the same.
For instance, in Missouri it is referred to as a DWI. There is not such thing as a DUI charge in Missouri.
Many states also have a separate charge called Driving with Excessive BAC or Blood Alcohol Content. This charge is different than DWI and is based solely upon the concentration of alcohol in a person’s blood.
